| Ashfield Riding for the Disabled Group |
 |
Ashfield R.D.A. is part of the national body of The Riding for
the Disabled Association and is the only group of its kind within
a 20-mile area. It operates with a full time qualified British
Horse Society instructor, a Specialist Occupational Therapist and
Specialist Physiotherapist who give of their time voluntarily to
ensure expert care and instruction.
In simple terms the groups aim is to provide the opportunity
of riding and driving for disabled people who might benefit in
their general health and well being.
The benefits to riders, both with learning disabilities and
physical disabilities, are plain for all to see - and helping
riders to reap these benefits can be an enriching experience for
all involved.
Our Royal Visitor
On July 17th 2000 Ashfield RDA group was honoured by a visit
from the President of RDA, HRH the Princess Royal. The group was
chosen because of the uniqueness of the Rainbow Equestrian Centre.
The Princess was particularly interested in the concept of the
community business, the principle on which the centre operates.
Being a non-profit making organisation run by the community for
the community, any spare cash generated is put back into the
centre to help with the day to day running costs and the constant
maintenance of equipment. |
